Municipal League Retracts Ron Hansen Rating
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Municipal League Retracts Rating of Shoreline City Council Candidate Ron Hansen Shoreline, WA (October 16, 2009) The Municipal League of King County Board voted unanimously to retract the rating of Shoreline City Council Candidate Ron Hansen. In a decisive move the Municipal League retracted Ron Hansen’s rating after discovering that Ron Hansen’s CPA license had been revoked in January of this year by the Washington State Board of Accountancy. Mr. Hansen’s CPA license was first suspended in 2001 for unprofessional conduct. On, January 16th, 2009 Ron Hansen’s CPA license was revoked by the Washington State Board of Accountancy. The investigation found that Mr. Hansen: “…borrowed money from estate funds for personal use without authorization; failed to provide a timely accounting of an estate to the successor co-personal representative of the estate; failed to comply with a court order; and continued association of the CPA title with Hansen’s name after the suspension of Hansen CPA certificate and individual and firm licenses in April 2001.” The disciplinary actions and sanctions against Mr. Hansen are; “Revocation of CPA certificate and eligibility to renew or reinstate practice licenses for 10 years and until Hansen requalifies for CPA licenses. 32nd District Democrats Endorse Will Hall and Yes on R-71
For Immediate Release 32nd District Democrats prepare for November's election Shoreline, Wash. (September 9, 2009) In a showing of Democratic unity, Councilmember Janet Way and the 32nd District Democrats overwhelmingly voted to endorse Will Hall for Shoreline City Council, Position 3. "Will Hall is a strong candidate for the Shoreline City Council," said Councilmember Way. "I feel that we need a strong environment advocate on the Council, and I urge my supporters to support Will for position 3." Will Hall is a policy adviser for Snohomish County. He worked on the first salmon recovery plans in the region for watersheds around Puget Sound and works to build consensus for protection of the environment and Shoreline neighborhoods. At the meeting, Hall expressed support for Democratic candidates and values. The District also voted to affirm Referendum 71. ?All of Washington residents deserve equal rights,? said Chris Roberts. Referendum 71 is supported by a broad coalition of civic organizations, faith organizations, and State Representatives Maralyn Chase and Ruth Kagi. 32ne District Democrats hold Endorsement Meeting
For Immediate Release 32nd District Democrats show unity Elect to support 15 local Democratic candidates in 2009 Shoreline, Wash. (July 10, 2009) In an expression of shared Democratic values, the 32nd District Democrats voted to endorse 15 local Democratic candidates running for election in 2009 at the District's endorsement meeting at the Shoreline Historical Museum. "We are excited about these candidates," said 32nd District Democrats Chair Carin Chase. "Once elected, they will fight for our shared values, and not special interests." In the most contested endorsement of the evening, the District voted to endorse both Diane Buckshins and Strom Peterson for Edmonds City Council, Position 2. "I share your progressive ideals," said Peterson. "I believe Point Wells should be a park," said Buckshins. Peterson received a vote of 29-2 from the membership while Buckshins received a vote of 22-12. In order to receive the District's endorsement, a candidate needs 60% of the vote.
The District gave support to Wendy DiPeso's write-in campaign for Shoreline City Council Position 1. "Wendy is a great champion for local businesses," said Elaine Phelps "and she would be a valuable asset on the City Council."
For the City of Lake Forest Park, the District voted to endorse Councilmember Alan Keist in his quest for reelection. The District also endorsed Brad Larssen for Kirkland City Council, Position 3, and Diane Brennan, Bob Hensel, and Patrick O'Brien for Kenmore City Council.
The District voted to endorse Corey Murata who is running for Shoreline School Board Position 2. While speaking to the membership, Murata argued, "openness and trust go a long way in making the tough decisions the Board faces." He spoke out against the School Board's handling of the Shoreline Museum.
In previous meetings, the District endorsed Larry Phillips and Dow Constantine for King County Executive, Cindy Ryu, Janet Way, and Christopher Roberts for Shoreline City Council, Jean Thomas for Lake Forest Park City Council, and Priya Cloutier and Adrienne Fraley-Monilas for Edmonds City Council.
